Hey Facebook lovers! Russians now own all your old photos

World people, please be more careful. We are living in a time where cybernetically we are not safe. We are living in a time where we need to realize that cybersecurity is as important as locking your front door, I’d say much critical. Yes. These are critical times and right now is the time to learn and adjust.

The Russian app is one of the most downloaded across the globe, with fans on social media using the hashtag #faceappchallenge to share their results. I’m sure you are part of the millions who was curious to see how beautifully old you were going to look in a few years. Right?

The free ‘old age filter,’ created in 2017 by developers at Wireless Lab in St. Petersburg, Russia, uses Artificial Intelligence to process your photos and use the information as they see fit. That means that your face could end up being commercialized — or worse. Scary I know!

As soon as I saw the mass of people around me sharing a photo of their wrinkly faces, I immediately stoped and thought “who the fuck is trying to hack people’s information?” I’ve lived and learned.

I don’t know it all, but I knew enough not to get myself in this app game. My advice is, as soon as you see a mass of people doing something via an app for example, please stop. Please stop. Please stop. Do not fall into the hackers trap.

We need to learn about internet safety and this not only for adults. What’s a kid favorite toy? A cell phone. That is why Google released an awesome program called Be Internet Awesome where it teaches kids the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety so they can explore the online world with confidence.

Another tip, if want to check if you have an email account that has been compromised in a data breach, go here to Have I been Pawned?

Cheers!
